Gagging For A Glass but, #dryjan.. ?
I’ve done you a favour and put the UK's most expensive non-alcoholic drink to the test: Seedlip’s Spice 94. I mixed 50ml with Fever Tree light, ice and a sprig of Rosemary. Being a gin-junkie, I was appalled to find myself thoroughly enjoying this fraudulent spirit. It had impactful layers of rich spices giving you that kick you'd normally get from alcohol.
If I were served one of these after a couple of normal G&T's in a bar, I would be none-the-wiser. Seedlip drinks contain zero sugar, calories or carbs - another bonus.
The range is on sale on Ocado at £23 down from £30 right now so fill your e-trollies and try it for yourself.
An absolute smoke-show! Ottolenghi’s NEW REstaurant: Rovi
Rovi focuses on ‘Fermentation and cooking over fire’. Yes. Please.
I visited with my financé Olie in December. Upon ordering, we eagerly reeled off nine dishes and we’re about to call out the next few when told ‘I think that’s quite enough’. Quite awkward, we just wanted everything.
The menu is imbued with Ottolenghi’s legendary flavours, new and old. The hero dish was his Celeriac Shawarma with bkeila and fermented tomato chilli sauce which is quickly becoming a destination dish. It was the first-ever kebab that I did not regret eating.
To quote Nigella’s IG it was ‘the best thing I’ve eaten all year!’. You can’t argue with the queen of food porn.
Wine wise the house white’s credentials included ‘organic’ and ‘vegan’ which did set alarm bells ringing. However, we went ahead and ordered it having considered the frightening prices of the rest of the menu and it turned out to be perfectly delicious.
The waiter was right, nine dishes was far too much. We averted dessert and finished with a sublime liqueur coffee and rolled home.
Rovi is not cheap but if you enjoy learning about food and wine and discovering new flavours whilst spying on open-plan kitchens, Rovi is a real treat worth experiencing.

Let Me Bring You Joy...
This musical sensation is only 20, though her voice has the maturity of a women far beyond her years. I adored Amy Winehouse (favourite song 'Amy, Amy, Amy') and you could be forgiven for mistaking Joy Crookes for her. She is amazing. Her voice, the melodies within her music and her lyrics are gorgeous and I’m excited at what she’ll deliver next.

STEPPING INTO COMFORT
Penelope Chilvers is an incredible shoe designer. She takes influence from her time in Spain so her signature design is based on the Spanish riding boot which is partly why I adore them. I was lucky enough to get a pair of her Cropped Tassel boots for Christmas and am completely in love with them. They’re cosily sheepskin lined with a non-slip rubber sole and a good strong zip. Perfect for the snow as well as the city. K Middy agrees.
